Life Happens, Do You Quit Living

One of the things that I love most about using Beachbody programs and products to lose weight and get healthy is that even though I am a Beachbody coach myself I have an entire coaching network of people to help me stay on track and focused when life feels like it gets the best of me.  Having this type of fitness support has made all the difference in my weight loss thus far.

Recently I have had alot happening in my life that is requiring more of a time commitment and it has made it very hard for me to stay on my P90X  routine the way it should be done. Rather than just give up and quitting,  I am going to make some temporary adjustments to my workout program and my nutritional program as well.  For now I am going to be using Tony Horton’s 10 Minute Trainer 5-6 days a week.  Rather than quit I am making this adjustment that will still keep me moving forward to the end result I am looking for.

I have lost over 70 lbs and 60 inches so far and I feel like I hit a wall so to speak as far as my progress. When life happens (and it will) you still have to stay true to your health and fitness, not doing that got me up to 320+ pounds in the 1st place! When I look at the 120 lbs that I still need to lose it sometimes feels as if it will never come!  One of my fellow coaches reminded me that 1-2 lbs a week is a healthy pace to lose weight in order to be healthy and maintain and build muscle. Going by that I am right on track.

Another one of my fellow coaches, and success partner told me that just because I was switching my workout program didnt make me a quiter or a failure but to give up would… I will never give up but if I need to make modifications to what I am doing as life happens I will always do so. Thus always moving forward towards my goal.

As far as nutrition goes… I have 106 days till my 40th birthday!!! On day 100 I will be starting a 100 day clean eating challenge for myself. I have found some incredible tips on how to eat clean on this blog http://thegraciouspantry.com  I will also be doing my best to follow the top 2 tiers of Michi’s Ladder which is a nutritional program not a diet! I will never ever diet again! Diets dont work!

All I can say is that to make changes to any program you are on to accomodate to an ever changing daily life is a great approach that even Tony Horton himself endorses.  To sum it all up into the words of Tony Horton… “Do your best, forget the rest” and this is some advice I will be taking and using!

What is a Good Core Exercise Workout

One thing I have learned on my journey to fitness and health is that choosing  good core exercises is essential to losing weight, building muscle, and a strong frame.  The more weight you need to lose the more core exercises you will need to do.

When you focus on strengthening your core you are providing the rest of your body with the foundation it needs to become what it can be.  You also reduce risk of injury dramitacaly by having a strong core.

Choosing a good core workout can be a bit confusing. I can say that Beachbody has many but one of the best workouts in my opinion, is by  far Tony Horton’s P90X workout program.  P90X is a follow up program to the Power 90 workout program which is a great starter exercise program and great for all fitness levels.

Can You Skip Days Using P90X?

Hi All!

I just wanted to touch base with you and update you on my P90X journey. So last week was a crazy week for me schedule wise and although I probably should have gotten up an hour and a half earlier than I do (5:00 am) to fit in my P90X workout I chose not to.

I ended up doing 3 days of P90x this week and then a fit club workout so that being a total of 4 workouts for the week, which on the P90x program for me just wont do!

Im keeping it real with you guys and I want you to know what my challenges and successes are while doing P90X. The challenge this week was time. I can see this being an issue for many busy people. The solution? Make time! As I said I could have made a choice to go to bed earlier (or Later) and get up earlier and do my daily workout, but I didnt.  I am just as busy if not busier than most people with a job, a business, 4 kids, husband, and running a household, but the plain simple and straight forward truth is that you can find time if it is truly important to you, and this is important to me!

Rather than beat myself up about it I decided to  start week 5 over on Monday. I know I did some of the workouts this week and could just pick up on the day where I left off, but I like for my workout schedule to start on Mondays. It just makes it easier for me to keep up with when it does.

So I have a challenge for you. I challenge you , this week and every week after, to make time for you! Make time to exercise. If it means you have to get up early or stay up late or whatever it means, just do it! Once we decide we are going to do it and then commit to it, then we will see success without doubt.

P90X Day 16-17 My Journey to Health


I am combining my P90X day 16- and 17 workouts into one blog. From time to time I do get busy believe it or not and if I have to prioritize. So please forgive if from time to time I have to combine days or even post a weekly update. I will , however I will always do my best to post daily =)

So Day 16 P90X Cardio X workout kicked my butt! I have really improved on this workout! I say it all in my video!!!

Day 17 P90X Shoulders and Arms and Ab Ripper X I brought it tonight! I was able to do chair dips for the very 1st time! I did a total of 7! YAY ME (in my London Tipton voice) Watch the video for my update!

P90X Core Synergistics Day 15 My Journey

Hi Everyone,

Tonight was a great workout! My P90X Day 15 workout was none other than Core Synergistics. This workout kicked my butt, but it is getting easier for me to do.

I am so sore! I can tell I am really working all of my core muscles and they are responding. I have been working them all along but the more flexible I become and the stronger I become the better I can do the exercise moves which means I will have a better result over all from my workouts.

Very Exciting to me to see such progress in myself. Such determination to not quit! I can tell you that P90X truly changes your confidence level. Your ability to achieve your goals if you follow the program. Having a coach makes this alot easier. Even though I am a Beachbody coach and I help others get healthy and fit using the Beachbody programs and nutrition, I too need a coach. I need that accountability. I also need the praise. That is why coaching is such a beautiful thing.

Well, today starts me and my daughter on week 3 of our program. Next week our P90X schedule will change as we go into week 4 of P90X Lean program the order of the workouts we are doing now will change. Time to confuse those muscles! Wish Me luck!

P90X Day 11 and 12 YES I am still doing it!

Hi Boys and Girls!

I am combining my P90X day 11 and 12 workouts into one post! Yes I got very busy and if I had to prioritize my blog had to come last.

DAY 11 Yoga X

So day 11 was Thursday and was Yoga X. I have a weekly Fit Club I offer on Thursdays so my my friend Tony suggested that we do Yoga X at our fit club so that I didnt have to do 2 workouts. I thought that was a great idea. Then I went and left the workout at home! So trying to stay true to the workout for the day (Yoga X) I wanted to find another Beachbody workout that had Yoga. We ended up going with the Tony Horton 10 Minute Trainer Yoga Flex which was over before I knew it and I felt like I needed more. I grabbed the Chalene Johnson Turbo Fire Stretch 40 class and we did that as well.

I felt like I stayed true to my P90x schedule even though it was not Yoga X.  Sometimes things like this will happen to you and you just have to do your best and forget the rest. I feel that Tony Horton would have been proud of me for improvising and pushing play.

I also learned to use the stretch bands to help me with my flexibility and a yoga block makes it alot easier!  If you are struggling with yoga you need to try these things it makes a big difference. Now I am actually excited to do yoga next week!


Day 12 Legs and Back and Ab ripper X

I was ready to go Friday night as I  loaded the DVD into the player! It was truly a great workout! I found I was able to do all the moves this time and even the wall squats! I did have to modify a bit but I did it!

I can see huge improvements in my strength and endurance! I am so happy and I think I am falling in love with P90X! I understand truly now why it is a social phenomenon because it changes you. It changes you mentaly as well as physically. I can’t believe I am saying this right now! I LOVE P90X!

I was able to do more of the ab ripper X moves as well. These are hard! Also like Tony Horton says you dont do ab ripper x everyday or it is ineffective.

I am out of my P90X recovery drink! That will teach me to not set it up on an monthly auto shipment! In the meantime until I get it I will be drinking Shakeology as a recovery drink. I did this last night and I can say it did help =) I had it again for breakfast this morning and I feel a little stiff but other than that I feel like I could conquer the world.

As a bonus to Friday night’s workout my 2 youngest daughters came in while we were working out and  joined us.  It was P90X family fun night! I am glad they wanted to join us and thought it was a fun thing to do. You can watch the video of them below.
