Nature has a way of providing for us in a perfect way all the things we need. Nothing that can be created and or simulated in a lab can even come close to the healing properties of nature.

Whole, nutritious natural foods that mostly came straight from the farm to the table were replaced by over-processed, refined and chemical laden, mass-produced convenience foods.

And fats were no different. Over four decades healthy sources of fats were replaced with vegetable oils that were thought to be “better-for-you.” We now know they’ve done more harm than good.

The following four are the worst offenders you should avoid at all costs:

  1. Canola Oil

Beachbody Ultimate Reset Review Week 1 | Loving Yourself From the Inside Out

Week 1 Beachbody Ultimate Reset Review:

When I decided to FINALLY make the commitment to myself and my health to take 21 days to reset, cleanse, alkalize, and detox my body I knew it would not be the easiest thing for me. I believe that is why I have hesitated doing The Ultimate Reset for so long.  I mean 21 days is a long time when you LOVE food!

I guess I was under the impression that I would be starving!!! NOT TRUE…  I have felt full and satisfied for the most part. There have been moments where mentally I wanted to fulfill a craving or desire and I even caved once but I didn’t let that get me off track.

I told you I would keep it real with you so I will, good, bad , indifferent….

Pre Reset:

My Ultimate Reset program came in. Time to educate myself and plan for my first week.  I read the materials which I found to be very helpful. I looked over the contents of the program and found my promise bracelet that comes with EVERY Ultimate Reset program to help you remember the promise and commitment you have made to yourself and your health and loving yourself from the inside out.

I was a little overwhelmed by the whole thing and then I discovered a way that it all can be simplified while I was reading the manual and I must say this was VERY helpful and just what I needed.

I did have a hard time finding a shopping list but eventually did on the Beachbody Ultimate Reset Client Portal.  When looking for ingredients I was not able to find miso paste at any of my local stores so you may want to check ahead of time or order it from somewhere online because it is called for alot in this program. I opted to not use it since I couldn’t find it before I began my program.

The program recommend beginning on a Wednesday so that is what I did. March 2, 2016 is when I began. I recently had gotten my weight down to 236 lbs (my lowest in years) THEN I took some medication that skyrocketed my weight to 247 lbs in just a matter of days which was very discouraging BUT I did not let that detour me from my ultimate health and weightloss goal. Time to do this!

Day 1 The Ultimate Reset:

This day is all about getting into the Ultimate Reset Phase 1 week 1 routine. The hardest thing for me was just trying to remember to eat and take the assigned supplement at the right time BUT by day 2 I had it down! :)  You take your body weight and divide 2 and that is what you drink in ounces of water daily. You also add the Beachbody Ultimate Reset Mineralize to the water you drink. You will also be taking the Ultimate Reset Optimize 30 minutes before your meals. In the afternoon (before your snack) you will drink the Ultimate Reset Alkalinize which wasn’t the worst thing I have ever had but it does take some getting used to. Before dinner you add the Ultimate Reset Soothe to the regimen.  I was not hungry and I really enjoyed the food I got to eat. I had 2 eggs and spinach, and whole grain toast for breakfast and even for lunch since it was so easy and yummy. For dinner I had Genghis Grill with NO SAUCES just some of the basic seasonings and it was yummy! I felt fine on this day.

Day 2 Ultimate Reset:

Woke up feeling pretty good. Ready to start my routine. I ate the eggs and spinach again because I really loved it and it just was easier… You get to have eggs up till day 4 so I figured I would make my life easier and just go with that for breakfast and lunch each day till then.  Getting the swing of this now and drinking all of my water and adding the mineralize to my distilled water like it suggests.  I didn’t feel hungry this day.

Day 3 Ultimate Reset:

I woke up on this day feeling GREAT! I had dropped weight already (I know it was water but I’ll take it) I ate the same things as day 1 and 2 with dinner being just a bit different. I felt ok this day BUT this was the day I was really tempted and gave in to a craving I was having… That made me feel bad BUT I tried to not let it keep me off course the rest of my day.

Day 4 Ultimate Reset: 

This day I had oatmeal and fruit for breakfast. It tasted  so good. Later in the day I noticed I was feeling VERY moody and kinda cranky and just wanted to sleep. I began to wonder if I could REALLY do this program… BUT after battling with myself mentally and reminding myself why I choose to do the Ultimate Reset program I decided to keep going…

Day 5 Ultimate Reset:

This day I guess I felt a renewed sense of being able to accomplish this goal of mine BUT thinking to myself 21 days is SOOOOOOO LONG! LOL

I GOT THIS!!!!

Day 6 Ultimate Reset:

Went through my routine without a hitch! I prepped my lunch from leftover dinner from the day before . At this point I am having fruit fro breakfast the past couple of days since I can’t have eggs now.  Feeling good BUT I am having CRAZY cravings! I know that is part of this process and will go away. I had a headache later in the evening but I drank some water and it went away.

Day 7 Ultimate Reset:

This is the last day I get to have chicken or oatmeal…. UGH… LOL  Ready to move into the next phase of the program Phase 2 Week 2 of the Ultimate Reset. I went shopping today and again I plan to eat alot of the same things to make it easier for me to stick with. Phase 2 calls for beans, brown rice, sweet potatoes, fruit and veggies…. K.I.S.S.  Not alot of variety but I dont care at this point I am just literally counting down the days that I am done with this!!!  :)

All in all, I would say that this is NOT going to be an easy so program at the same time it is only as difficult and hard as you make it… You have to make sure you have the mindset to do this and that is why till now I hadn’t done it. I was not mentally and emotionally ready to do this for 21 days. Believe me you are going to battle your feelings,and your head during this process BUT I know without a doubt the results will be worth it in the end .

Healthy Snickers Shakeology Recipe

1 Scoop Choc. Shakeology

1 tsp maple syrup

1 tbs Crunchy peanut butter

4oz milk

4oz cold coffee (can be replaced with 4oz milk)

1/8 tsp vanilla extract

1/8 tsp almond extract

Blend and “Satisfy”!

 

Healthy Butterfinger Blizzard Shakeology Recipe:

1. 1 scoop Chocolate Shakeology

2. 4oz Almond Milk or Skim Milk

3. 4-6 oz water

4. 2 Tbs pb2 natural peanut butter or regular

5. 2 Tbs Jello sugar-free/ fat-free Butterscotch Pudding powder

6. Ice to taste

 

Healthy Almond Joy Shakeology Recipe:

1 Cup lite coconut milk,

about 1/8 cup sliced almonds

1/2 C Water

1 Scoop Shakeology

1/2 banana and 2Cups of ice.

Healthy Black Forest Shakeology Recipe

1 scoop chocolate Shakeology

4 oz. almond milk

6 oz. water

1 tsp. cherry extract

8 oz water (or soy milk or skim milk)

1 ripe banana

2 large frozen strawberries

tony fed TBB Challenge winner januaryI felt inspired to do a series of stories about people who have all lost weight 30 lbs or more to be exact and how they did it. What inspired this change in them and how they got there and how it has transformed their lives in general.

My first story is about a friend and fellow colleague of mine  Team Beachbody Coach Tony Federico. When I met Tony he was already on his journey and had lost a few lbs and had just become a Beachbody Coach. We met at one of Tony Horton’s P90X live workouts here in Dallas. That would become one of many workouts that Tony and I would do together as the years passed.

Tony has been an inspiration and support to me all along my journey and I hope his story will motivate and inspire you as well. Tony also won $1000 dollars in the Team Beachbody Challenge by simply sharing his before and after pictures and story (I had been telling him to do this for years) I recently interviewed Tony and asked him a series of questions about his health and weight loss transformation and here is what he had to say…

1. Tell me a little about you as a person. “I’m 5’8” I’m 41 , married with 2 kids , I am an IT professional, and a Team Beachbody Coach. I currently live in Plano, TX”

2. How much did you weigh and how much did you lose? “I weighed 211 pounds at my heaviest. I lost 51 pounds and went from a size 36 inch waist to a 31 inch waist

3.When did you become overweight? “I have always been heavy even while in the Marines.  I was at the high end the of the weight range but just within regulation. After leaving the Marines and not being active any longer the weight started coming on.”

4. What kind of relationship with food have you had throughout your life? “If I was hungry I ate. I would get whatever was available. I would eat till I was full. And I drank a lot of beer”

5. Where you ever active before gaining the weight? “I would only do what I had to in the Marines. I never worked out just because I wanted to.”

6. What was the pivotal moment you knew you wanted and needed to lose weight? ” I was sitting in my air conditioned house in the middle of the summer watching TV and started to sweat, and I realized this wasn’t right.”

7. What do you feel contributed to your being overweight? “Eating what ever I wanted whenever I wanted, and lack of physical activity I was very sedentary and I liked it!”

8. How did you lose your weight? “I lost my weight thru exercise and eating right … I started with weight watchers and lost some weight. Then I started eating again,  and couldn’t stick to it, and I still wasn’t moving.  After that I gained about 23 lbs.  I decided to try a workout program that I saw on TV that a friend was using as well called P90X by Tony Horton. P90X implemented exercise and a meal plan.  I also decided to drink Shakeology which was suggested in the P90x program. I used a lot of the P90x supplements, P90X protein bars, and P90X recovery drinks.  It was just easier for me to get all of my stuff from one place online than to hunt it down! I was also sold on it because the same company who made the program also made the supplements so I knew they would all work together!”

9. What lifestyle changes had to be made for you to succeed? ” I cut out all “POP”  I cut out all alcohol I don’t eat sweets. I made a conscious effort to eat clean. I also had the support of my wife who made sure we as a family made a choice to do this. I also had a Beachbody coach who was there when I needed him.  I also think that my decision to become a Beachbody coach was a great decision for many reasons because I initially became a coach for the discount on my P90X products and supplements. I have learned that It is so much more to me than that now.”

10. How long did it take you to lose your weight? “It took me maybe a year.”

11. What was the most important thing that kept you on track on your journey? “My before pics and my Facebook profile… I had accountability to the public there!”

12. During your journey have you ever fallen off the wagon? “No I  am T-Fed! But seriously of course I have . I would go out with my friends and drink a little and eat something I wasn’t supposed too and then felt guilty about it the next day.  I don’t slip up as often anymore cause I know how I will feel the next day and I will have wasted all the work fora few drinks and some fatty fat food!”

13. What one piece of advice would you give someone who wanted to lose weight? “Don’t give up, take it one day at a time. It is not a sprint it is a marathon.”

14. Do you have before and after pics? “Yes”

15. Which Beachbody Programs have you used? “I have used and still use P90X, P90X2 , Insanity, T25 P90x3″
