The Mayo Clinic says that water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells, and provides a moist environment for ear, nose, and throat tissues. Plus it allows metabolic reactions to take place. But even with all that responsibility that water carries it is most often referred to as the forgotten nutrient. How can that be when a lack of water can lead to dehydration zapping your energy and making you tired?

Water escapes your body with every breath, sweat, and trips to the bathroom, so it needs to be replaced regularly. How much water does your body need daily to stay hydrated? Well that depends on several factors including the climate that you live in and how active that you are. Some researches suggest the 8×8 rule, drink 8, 8ounce glasses of water a day. The Institute of Medicine suggests that men drink 3 liters, or 13 cups, and women drink 2.2 liters or about 9 cups.

Most Beach body customers and coaches stay pretty active and if that’s you the Mayo Clinic also says that engaging in any activity that makes you sweat such as Turbo Jam, that you should consume an extra 1.5 to 2.5 cups of water, but if you are engaged in an intense workout like P90X then you should also consume a liquid that contains Sodium, Potassium, and Electrolytes. We recommend Beachbody’s P90X Peak and Recovery Formula which contains all of that and more.
